FRANCE/USA. The Rémy Cointreau Group has signed an agreement to acquire Seattle-based Westland Distillery. The transaction is expected to close before the end of the year.
With this purchase, Rémy will expand its portfolio further into the fast-growing high-end malty whisky category.
Westland Distillery, whose mission is to produce world-class American single malt whiskey, is located in one of the world’s best climates for barley.
The distillery said it is firmly committed to pushing the category of single malt whiskey forward by utilising new varietals of barley and oak and championing distinctiveness.
Earlier this year Westland was named ‘World Craft Producer of the Year’ by Whisky Magazine.
