Regstaer makes duty free arrivals store debut at Vnukovo Airport

RUSSIA. Dufry-controlled Regstaer Group opened its first duty free arrivals store at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow on 19 January.

The opening follows the government’s final approval of duty free arrivals shopping legislation last month. The store is trading under the Duty Free Moscow branding.

Arriving now: Duty free arrivals shopping has been a long time in coming to Russia and will take time to get established in the consumer mindset. But travel retailers such as Regstaer consider the potential to be high.

The 120sq m store sells most traditional duty free categories except liquor, for which it is awaiting a licence. In the interim Regstaer is offering an extensive line-up of beauty items, confectionery, tobacco, souvenirs, toys and accessories.

“The first results are encouraging though it is difficult to estimate the potential of the arrivals business in comparison to departure duty free,” Regstaer Commercial Director Vadim Sagiev told The Moodie Davitt Report.

In related news, Elena Dudko has been promoted to Head of Marketing and PR for Regstaer Group. She was formerly Executive Assistant to company founder and Chairman Alexander Baev.

Footnote: As reported, Regstaer celebrated its 20th anniversary last month. The Moodie Davitt Report was the exclusive travel retail media in attendance. Following our original report, look out for an extensive follow-up feature in the next Moodie Davitt e-Zine.

Regstaer is offering a diverse range of products from fragrances to fashion for shopping on arrival. It expects to add liquor to the line-up soon.
