UK. MAC Cosmetics has signed up Amazonian actress Raquel Welch as its Beauty Icon for 2007. Her signature make-up collection hits the shelves this month.
The colour collection is described as “strong and wild, sultry and exotic” and was created for women of all races and ages. It is packaged in a black compact with a striking tiger print, which aims to reflect the actress’s feline sexuality.
Welch said of the partnership with the leading make-up artist brand: “When MAC approached me to be their Beauty Icon face for 2007 I was delighted. I was enthusiastic about coming aboard to design a signature make-up collection, because I’m very familiar with their products and have been a devotee of their colours for over 20 years now. I also pride myself on being able to do my own make-up for many professional occasions, so the art of make-up design is a real passion of mine, both on- and off-screen.”
The new Beauty Icon Collection includes a wide range of flattering textures and shades, enabling women to create their own individual customised look, Welch said.
Products in the palette include the Vital Spark Lipglass, a transparent gloss which doesn’t change your natural lip colour; the vibrantly coloured Tiger Tiger Lipstick; the Pro Longwear Lustre lipstick in Bedazzled, a deep pink lipstick that doesn’t smear; and Goddess powder blush in Peach, to replicate Welch’s signature ‘brushed sunset’ cheeks.
