Porsche Design extends Ball Tec sunglasses range

Porsche Design will highlight two new models in its Ball Tec sunglasses range at the upcoming TFWA World Exhibition & Conference (Riviera Village RE117).

The sunglasses are available in four colours and include the Ball Tec innovative hinge, which was designed to replace conventional eyewear hinges.

Porsche Design said the ball on the end of the temples is inserted in the front of the frame, which is made of high-performance plastic (RXP), to ensure side movement. The ball offers increased flexibility and, without screws, is a maintenance-free type of hinge.

Roaring into innovation: Porsche Design focuses on new Ball Tec sunglasses at TFWA World Exhibition.

Porsche Design emphasised the weight of the RXP and titanium sunglasses, which, without demo lenses, weigh 8.5g making them lighter than a DIN A3 sheet of paper.

The brand said a precise and complex manufacturing method used in the Ball Tec series guarantees constant tension on the temples as well as perfect wearing comfort. The range has claimed an iF Design award.

As reported, eyewear specialist Rodenstock extended its Porsche Design Eyewear licence agreement for a further ten years last year.

Rodenstock Director Global Retail & Optical Key Accounts Petra Eckhardt-Koestler said: “The lightweight aspect of the Ball Tec range makes it ideal for travel retail.”
