Piper-Heidsieck partners exclusively with Dubai Duty Free to launch Hors-Série 1971 edition

UAE. Piper-Heidsieck has teamed up with Dubai Duty Free to release Hors-Série 1971, the first in a collection of special issues from the Champagne brand.

Dubai Duty Free is the only travel retailer in the world to feature the ultra-limited edition, which is available now at Dubai International Airport (DXB) Terminal 3 Arrivals and Concourse B stores.

The collection marks a new chapter for the house under the direction of Chief Winemaker Émilien Boutillat

Piper-Heidsieck’s Hors-Série 1971 is limited to 2,021 bottles, of which 18 bottles are available at Dubai Duty Free, with a recommended retail price of AED2,399 (US$653), excluding VAT.

Each Hors-Série cuvée is distinguished by its cellar time, singular blend and unique sourcing.

Hors-Série 1971 is the reinterpretation of a vintage blend dating back 50 years. Piper-Heidsieck Chief Winemaker Émilien Boutillat added a dosage liqueur – produced from a 2019 Chardonnay, with no malolactic fermentation, as was the tradition in 1971 – to intensify the vintage.

Hors-Série 1971 is presented in boxes made of oak from sustainably managed French forests and carved by artisans from Rennes.

Piper-Heidsieck Global Travel Retail Director Cecile Vangelisti said: “We at Piper-Heidsieck are extremely proud to reveal such unique bottles at Dubai Duty Free and cannot wait for its consumers to embark on this fabulous 50-year-old journey.

“Hors-Série 1971 is a true testimony of Piper-Heidsieck wine excellence and audacity and we could not be happier to release it with our esteemed partner, Dubai Duty Free.”

Dubai Duty Free Senior Vice President for Purchasing Sharon Beecham added: “The Champagne category has been one of the best-performing categories throughout 2021, and at Dubai Duty Free we are delighted to be the only airport in the world to offer such an exclusive and craftsmanship collection from Piper-Heidsieck to our consumers.”
