Pernod Ricard stands with China in support of Moodie Davitt Daxing Airport eZine Wuhan support project

Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail has given strong support for a special Moodie Davitt Report eZine on the spectacular new Daxing International Airport that is raising funds for the COVID-19 relief effort in China.

As reported, The Moodie Davitt Report is donating all advertising revenues received from the long-planned eZine (whether those funds were committed before or after the COVID-19 outbreak) to a leading hospital in Wuhan, Union Hospital Tongji Medical College Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Union Hospital). Union Hospital remains in urgent need of support to battle the disease.

Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail has made a sizable donation to the cause, joining other supporters China Duty Free Group, The Moodie Davitt Report, Treasury Wine Estates, The Estée Lauder Companies and La Prairie.

The Union Hospital is still experiencing urgent shortages, particularly for goggles, N95 masks, surgical masks, disposable medical masks, medical caps, protective clothing, surgical gowns, impact-proof eye masks, protective masks and various disinfectants.

Following the outbreak, Union Hospital became one of the first designated hospitals in Wuhan to treat patients.

The choice of recipient was made jointly with China’s top travel retailer, China Duty Free Group (CDFG), which is buying advertising in the publication as a public statement of support for the people of Wuhan. CDFG joins with The Moodie Davitt Report in urging travel retail companies to do likewise.

Standard pages are US$2,500 but to encourage support during a very tough time for most companies in the business, advertisers can state their own level of investment: all donations, big and small, are welcome. Please contact Martin@MoodieDavittReport.com.

All monies will go to Union Hospital. The Moodie Davitt Report will absorb all related project costs.

Daxing International Airport: A symbol of China’s bright future

The project, dubbed ‘Stand with China’, will now be published in early March. It features exclusive on-location coverage by Martin Moodie from the new Beijing gateway and interviews with leading players including China Duty Free Group, Lagardère Travel Retail, Plaza Premium Group and others.

Moodie said: “The travel retail industry has benefitted enormously from China in recent years. It is a time for us to give back and to stand with the Chinese people.

“Our thoughts are with the people of China and all our many friends in the Chinese travel retail community at a time of immense difficulty.

“This crisis will pass and China will continue to lead the direction and growth of the travel retail channel. Daxing is a symbol of that bright future and we can and should celebrate this momentous achievement but in an appropriate fashion that doubles as a statement of solidarity with China.”
