Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen headlines six new retail and F&B openings at Adelaide Airport

AUSTRALIA. The first stage of Adelaide Airport’s AU$165 million (US$108.42 million) expansion has welcomed its first passengers today, with six new retail and F&B concepts simultaneously opening for business.

Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen, Boost Juice, Lego Kaboom, Airport Pharmacy, Soul Origin and Precinct Adelaide Kitchen have begun operations opposite gates 15-16.

The new retail concourse is headlined by the Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen, which has been modelled on the Australian wine producer’s well-known Magill Estate restaurant venue. The restaurant’s bar wraps around escalators at the entrance to the expanded international departures area.

The Penfolds venture is a partnership with Emirates Leisure Retail, which operates retail tenancies in airports across Australia.

Other new F&B concepts confirmed for the expanded terminal include the opening of The Pantry and Jamface, in partnership with celebrity chefs Callum Hann and Poh Ling Yeow respectively.

As reported, Emirates Leisure Retail will also open a new venue with renowned Australian cook, food author and restaurateur Maggie Beer – the Maggie Beer Kitchen – in early 2021.

Adelaide Airport Managing Director Mark Young said: “We think brands like Penfolds and later Maggie Beer will make Adelaide Airport a destination both for travellers and for South Australians looking for a unique dining and food experience.

“The presence of iconic South Australian brands as well as the ultimate location of the Vickers Vimy aircraft on the ground floor of the expanded terminal will deliver a real sense of place.”

Adelaide Airport also announced that Virgin Australia will open an expanded lounge offering as part of the new terminal developments in April this year. The airline will vacate its current lounge site from tomorrow to allow for construction works and has set up a temporary lounge in the new retail precinct.

The newly-constructed retail concourse is part of Adelaide Airport’s first major expansion works since the current terminal was opened in 2005. The completed expansion will result in a more than +80% increase in the overall size of the terminal’s retail and dining precinct across domestic and international areas.
