Out of this world: Malaysia Airports launches Marvel Super Heroes campaign

MALAYSIA. Malaysia Airports, together with The Walt Disney Company Malaysia and Maybank, launched a major campaign around Marvel super heroes at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Friday.

The ‘Marvel Super Heroes Have Landed’ campaign runs from 12 April to 16 June at KLIA and klia2, featuring games and photo opportunities with life-sized Avengers figurines.

Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager of Commercial Services Mohammad Nazli Abdul Aziz said: “This is an exciting time for many of us especially since we are only a few weeks away till Marvel Studios’ Avengers: End Game explodes on cinema screens nationwide on 24 April. We are delighted to bring such iconic super heroes to our airports and hope that these initiatives will further enliven our guests’ airport experience, which is a key thrust in Malaysia Airports’ Commercial Reset Strategy.

“We want to change the perception of what airports are traditionally known for, to what it could be. Through these initiatives, we believe we are inching closer in transforming our airports from merely being transportation hubs to premier lifestyle and shopping destinations. We must continuously strive to remain relevant and competitive in providing the best for travellers and guests at our airports.”

Nazli added that Malaysia Airports aims to entice travellers with more compelling campaigns, leveraging both offline and online marketplaces, ‘retail-tainment’ concepts and digital innovations, with support from retailers and other partners.

During the campaign, the activities and installations include:

*A scale model of the Avenger’s Quinjet
*Iron Man Shooting Range

*Thor’s Hammer Game
*Life-size figurines of Captain American, Iron Man and Thor.

There are meet and greet sessions with Avengers Super Heroes on 12-14 April and 19-21 April.

Maybank’s Vichelle Woon, Royal Selangor’s Chen Tien Yue and Malaysia Airports’ Mohammad Nazli Abdul Aziz kick off the eye-catching campaign on Friday.

The launch on Friday was also attended by Director, Disney Media+ Jon Tjin Kee; Maybank Cards Group, Community Financial Services Head of Marketing Vichelle Woon; Royal Selangor Marketing Executive Director Chen Tien Yue alongside local personalities Ung Yiu Lin, Alif Satar and Daphne Iking.

As part of the campaign, Maybank customers can benefit from offers on limited-edition collectibles when they spend a minimum amount with their Maybank Cards at all international airports operated by Malaysia Airports. Redemption can be made at KLIA, Penang International Airport (Royal Selangor Outlet, International Departure Level 2) and Kota Kinabalu International Airport (Royal Selangor Outlet, International Departure Level, Terminal 1).
