On Location with Globuy: Haikou Riyue Plaza Duty Free Shop

CHINA. Prominent Chinese WeChat social media platform Globuy last week visited the China Duty Free Group-controlled Haikou Riyue Plaza Duty Free Shop as part of a wider tour of Hainan’s travel retail offerings.

During their visit to Haikou, the Globuy team reported on the store’s extensive shopping attractions, especially since the introduction of the enhanced offshore duty free shopping policy on 1 July. “Everyone says that Hainan duty free shops are now super cost-attractive,” the reporter told her consumer audience.

The start of the Duty Free Shopping Festival is an added allure, offering a wide range of discounts until October, she noted.

The Globuy report tracks the reporter from Shanghai Pudong Airport (noting the careful emphasis on a health declaration card that must be shown repeatedly in Hainan) through to her arrival on the leisure resort island notable for its pristine environment (“You can taste the sky”)

As reported, China Duty Free Group (working with Globuy) was awarded The Moodie Award this year for Best Use of a Social Platform.

Globuy, which works closely with The Moodie Davitt Report, is owned by Chinese digital travel retail platform TripurX, which has over 1 million followers across two social media platforms. Globuy aims to become ‘the KOL of Chinese travel retail,’ and boasts 1.5 million monthly views for its WeChat social media platform promoting new launches, promotions, special offers and other travel retail-related news.

TripurX is exhibiting at the forthcoming Moodie Davitt Virtual Travel Retail Expo as a Silver Partner and the Globuy editorial team will be visiting the Expo to report on the offerings of the approximate 110 exhibitors.

Here are some video and pictorial highlights of the Globuy report.
