MAURITIUS. Novo Ivc has announced further expansion into Africa after signing an agreement to provide Tourvest Duty Free (TDF) with its Onboard Retail Technology, to be used onboard all Air Mauritius flights serviced by the inflight retailer.

As reported, Tourvest Duty Free recently won the contract to provide onboard products and services to its new airline partner, Air Mauritius, and will be entrusting the computerised retail management element to Novo.

Novo’s relationship with TDF commenced in 1999, following a tender process for the provision of retail technology onboard Kenya Airways. It also works with Tourvest for its Virgin Atlantic Airways concession.

Tourvest Duty Free Crew Liaison Manager for Virgin Atlantic David O’Callaghan said: “The on-time implementation of the Falcon units across the Virgin Atlantic fleet was a huge success, due in no small part to the expertise, professionalism, reliability and flexibility of all at Novo”.

Tim Clifford, Novo’s Divisional Director said: “We are delighted to continue working within the strong partnership based on shared industry expertise that exists between Novo Ivc with Tourvest Duty Free.”

Air Mauritius covers 30 regional and international routes across Europe and Africa all of which will be supported by Novo’s Onboard Retail Technology. The Government of Mauritius has set a target of two million tourists by 2015 and the national carrier is a key element in its tourism strategy.
