When adjusted for 2015 profits on the sale of property amounting to NOK1266 million (US$150.6 million), operating income rose marginally, by +0.6%. “We have achieved a satisfactory profit margin while experiencing reductions in traffic growth. We are also significantly increasing enterprise efficiency and capacity. The profit will be used to finance further expansion at Norwegian airports in the years to come.”

Avinor said its expansion programme at Oslo Airport was on track and ready for an official opening on 27 April.

Travel Retail Norway opened the largest duty free Arrivals shop in the world (above) – a Heinemann Duty Free Arrivals shop – at Oslo Airport in September. It will occupy a space of 4,000sq m when completed in April.

Travel Retail Norway and Gebr. Heinemann have also partnered for the opening of two new Departures duty free stores. The first, in a 2,400sq m space at the North Terminal, opened in December. It has initially replaced the airport’s old Departures store, which is being refurbished and will reopen this month with 350sq m of extra space. The 2,200sq m store will bring the total duty free space in Departures to 4,600sq m.
