Nordic Travel Retail Group to reveal major market study

NORDIC REGION. The Nordic Travel Retail Group (NTRG), which represents the duty free and travel retail industry in the Nordic region, is to share a major market report with members.

The report, prepared in association with research company m1nd-set, outlines the structure of the market, presents a macro-economic overview of the conditions in which the industry operates, and focuses on sales and consumer shopping behaviour.

Its release coincides with the forthcoming Nordic Travel Retail Seminar, which takes place in Helsinki on 8 June (more below).

Around 118 delegates attended last year’s Nordic Travel Retail Seminar in Stockholm; this year’s event takes place on 8 June in Helsinki

The NTRG board commissioned m1nd-set to undertake the report last September. Members heard a preliminary presentation from m1nd-set Owner and CEO Peter Mohn at their March 2017 meeting.

NTRG Chair Eva Rehnström said: “The positive response to our work with this report has been immense and everyone in the NTRG board is happy to see that we are able to fulfil a need for data and insights among our members. This pan-regional and multi-purpose report will be not only of great value to each of our members but also for our industry association. Together, we now have a much better and common understanding of our region.”

She added: “Deciding to commission this research was a significant and strategic decision for the board to make, and we are happy to have partnered with m1nd-set. The process has been smooth and as scheduled, and the results are as good as we expected when signing the agreement last year.”

Peter Mohn added: “An already strong and trusting relationship has gained even more strength since we started working together with this project. Being part of adding value to the NTRG membership has been stimulating and we are happy with the result for the board of NTRG and for our new B1S – m1nd-set Business 1ntelligence Service.”

Nordic networking: The social side of the Nordic Seminar is a key element

Looking ahead to its 8 June Seminar, the NTRG said that registrations have been strong, with ‘Global Changes’ the theme of the event.

Former Prime Minister of Sweden Fredrik Reinfeldt is the opening keynote. He will address his view on continuing political and economic changes and share his perspective based on more than 25 years of experience in international politics. Swedish economist and writer Kjell A. Nordström will be the closing keynote, as last year. Other speakers representing gategroup and the ETRC are among others confirmed, with more names to be announced. The Moodie Davitt Report President Dermot Davitt will moderate the event.

Further information about NTRS 2017 is available at the NTRG website. Online registration for the event is open until 1 June.
