Nice Côte d’Azur Airport reveals T2 expansion and walk-through Aelia Duty Free store

FRANCE. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport has completed the latest phase of an ambitious development of Terminal 2. It features a walk-through Aelia Duty Free store and single-security check along a new passenger route through the terminal.

The project mirrors recent development at Terminal 1, which was completed and unveiled last year.

The Lagardère Travel Retail-managed duty free store opened today (9 February) in 840sq m of space, under what the retailer termed its “playful new luxury” concept. It houses gastronomy, confectionery, fragrances & cosmetics, wines, Champagnes and premium spirits.

New beauty brands at the airport include Crème de la mer, Jo Malone and Filorga, and widened space for the category features dedicated areas for leading French houses Chanel, Dior and Guerlain. Other leading P&C brands include Bobbi Brown, Bourjois, Benefit, Caudalie, By Kilian, Dyptique, Amouage and Serge Lutens, plus there are private collections by Tom Ford and Elie Saab. Leading regional perfume house Fragonard is also prominent, allowing travellers the opportunity to create their own scents.

In addition, there is a beauty express service for nails and a Hair & Nail Bar by Éric Zemmour.

In confectionery there are corners dedicated to M&M’S and the macaroons of Pascal Lac, named as one of the 20 best chocolatiers in France by the Club des Croqueurs de Chocolat [Chocolate Appreciation Society].

Throughout the spring and before the summer, new shops will also open in Schengen Zone A, with further expansion planned in non-Schengen Zone B.

By year end, the space in T2 for shopping and dining will have increased by +162% to 3,706sq m. In addition, the VIP lounges have been expanded by +144% to 1,415sq m while a new Business Centre has also opened.

The development continues in coming months, with a range of dining outlets set to complete the transformation of T2

Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur CEO Dominique Thillaud said: “After the complete renewal of Terminal 1 last year, the opening of this new optimised single control check area, offering even more security and fluidity, marks a new milestone in the establishment of a platform which forms part of our region’s image. We are always focused on the satisfaction of our passengers and improvement of the competitiveness that we offer to airlines, as we are the only ones in France to offer drastic reductions in fees.”

Commercial Business Unit Director Filip Soete said: “In opening this new route within Terminal 2, we are able to culminate our vision ‘to offer the most remarkable experience within a European airport’ with an emphasis on Sense of Place and with brands such as Fragonard, L’Occitane, Lac, Gas – very much related to the Riviera. [These] will complement our existing offer of essential products related to travel or to France.”

Once work in departures is completed, the airport will feature 68 shops and restaurants throughout the two terminals.
