“Next phase of growth”: Delhi Duty Free launches specialised academic programme

INDIA. Delhi Duty Free has launched a specialised academic programme designed to educate, train and develop entry- and mid-level sales associates in retail management.

The DDFS Retail Academy has been created by Delhi Duty Free Services (DDFS) in collaboration with Luxury Connect Business School (LCBS). Participants will work toward a customised six month certificate programme in retail management, with the aim of developing the skills and knowledge of employees.

The initiative follows the ‘ARI Way Advanced Selling Skills’ training programme which was recently rolled out to the Delhi Duty Free team.

Addressing the first batch of the DDFS team to participate on the course, Delhi Duty Free CEO Luke Gorringe said: “The travel retail sector in India is undergoing a rapid transformation, and the next phase of growth will require well trained professionals capable of understanding global best retail practices to meet the unique characteristics of the Indian consumer.

“The Retail Academy will provide cutting edge training that will help drive the capability of the DDFS retail team to ‘world-class’ competency levels. We are delighted to associate with LCBS in developing this premier retail training programme.”

There are 25 participants in the first wave of the programme. A second wave will be rolled out over the coming months, DDFS said.
