ESTONIA. Tallink Group is preparing to launch its new fast ferry Megastar on 29 January, with the new ship featuring 2,800sq m of retail over two decks. Megastar, which is the result of a €230 million investment by the company, will ply the short route between Helsinki and Tallinn.
The Traveller Superstore is located on decks 7 and 8, in the aft of the ship. The store is designed to mirror the new-look offer onboard the Silja Symphony and Serenade.
The shop is open mornings before the first departure until evening when the last trip is done, including during port stays. There are restrictions on selling liquor & tobacco only in Helsinki harbour and in Finnish waters.
As well as the shopping offer the ship will house seven restaurants, plus cafés and bars. A playroom is available for kids and on the garage level there is a kennel for pets.
Tallink Grupp CEO Janek Stalmeister said: “Connecting Finland and Estonia, and Northern Europe to the Baltic States is an important goal for us. With Megastar, this hub becomes the most modern sea-hub in the region. At Tallink we have been researching what our customers want in a next generation ferry. Then we worked closely with Meyer Turku on a fresh and functional design of the ship and I am sure the outcome will please all our customers.”
Megastar offers three travel classes, the standard or Star class, upgraded Comfort class and Business class. For the first time, there are separate lounges within standard class – a Sitting Lounge and Driver`s Lounge for cargo drivers.
