New era at oOh!media as Cathy O’Connor takes CEO role

AUSTRALIA. Cathy O’Connor has commenced her role as CEO of Australia’s number one Out of Home media operator, oOh!media. She succeeds Brendon Cook, who has led the business since it was founded more than 30 years ago.

O’Connor brings 35 years of experience from working in Australian media businesses, culminating in a 12-year stretch as CEO of Nova Entertainment Group. Prior to that, she held the position of Managing Director at DMG Radio.

Dawn of a new era: Cathy O’Connor succeeds oOh!media founder Brendon Cook as CEO

She has the considerable challenge of replacing outgoing CEO Cook, who transformed oOh! from a small start-up in the late 1980s to an ASX-listed industry leader. Cook will continue to consult for the company, his experience seen as invaluable as the Australian economy recovers from a challenging 2020.

O’Connor – who was announced as Cook’s successor last August – said: “It’s great to join such a dynamic company. We have strong growth prospects, a robust and evolving business model, and significant investments in data, audience insights, content and creative that will contribute to the next stage of our evolution. It’s an exciting place to be right now.

“Audiences are returning, and we now have numerous opportunities to grow the business while developing great teams, driving efficiencies, and building strong networks” – oOh!media CEO Cathy O’Connor

“I’d like to thank Chairman Tony Faure, Brendon, and the rest of the team for making me feel so welcome.

“While the effects of the pandemic continue to be felt, we have managed the balance sheet responsibly. Audiences are returning, and we now have numerous opportunities to grow the business while developing great teams, driving efficiencies, and building strong networks in corporate and agency environments.”

oOh!media – which has about 800 employees – has an extensive network of more than 37,000 digital and static asset locations includes roadsides, retail centres, airports, train stations, bus stops, office towers, cafes, bars and universities.
