LVMH-owned beauty and fragrance house Guerlain has unveiled the new L’Essentiel High Perfection foundation range. It will be launched into worldwide travel retail on 21 March.
Guerlain revealed the new foundation range during a virtual press conference which was attended by Guerlain Chief Sustainability Officer Cécile Lochard, Guerlain International Marketing Director for Makeup Isabelle Hébant and LVMH Director of the Research Development Department Brigitte Noé.
“Luxury and beauty thrive on stimulating radical transformation,” said Cécile Lochard. “We are committed to actively contributing to change and to reinventing industry standards, so that step by step we convey an Art of Beauty that’s positive, covetable and always exciting.”
Following the launch of the L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation in 2019, Guerlain has launched a complementary matte finish line, called the L’Essentiel High Perfection Foundation.
The High Perfection range is the world’s first full-coverage foundation that offers 24-hour perfect wear using 96% naturally-derived ingredients. The new formula features a second-skin texture and mattifies the skin without affecting skin radiance.
The L’Essentiel High Perfection Foundation gives buildable coverage, neutralises shine and blurs away pores and imperfections thanks to its key ingredient, Vegetal silk. It has also been infused with Tara fruit extract, white cocoa beans, probiotic derivatives and prebiotic extracts.
The foundation also preserves natural hydration and protects the skin from daily external aggressors such as UVA and UVB light. It is available in 30 shades, ten different intensity levels, three skin undertones and two finishes: L’Essentiel Natural Glow and L’Essentiel High Perfection.
The L’Essentiel campaign was shot by fashion photography duo Inez & Vinoodh and marks the photographers’ first project with the French beauty house. It stars Guerlain Muse Natalia Vodianova, along with Chinese Model He Cong and American-Kenyan Model Imari Karanja. The minimalist campaign features the three models wearing just the ‘essentials,’ the L’Essentiel High Perfection Foundation.
The new foundation line reflects the French beauty house’s commitment to using a minimum of 90% natural-origin ingredients across its makeup portfolio.
Guerlain’s sustainable mission comprises five pillars: innovating sustainably in full transparency, preserving biodiversity and protecting bees, acting for climate change and creating a positive social impact while safeguarding nature.
Guerlain’s Bee Respect platform is a tool which guides customers through the traceability of every Guerlain product, from sourcing, points of sale all the way to end-of-use recycling processes. The platform is accessible via Guerlain.com and offers complete transparency across the beauty house’s portfolio. The L’Essentiel Foundation collection can be traced via the Bee Respect platform.
