Muscat Duty Free ignites brand awareness with airport bus marketing campaign

OMAN. Muscat Duty Free recently launched a creative marketing campaign that featured an airport passenger bus redesigned to resemble a plane, sparking a wave of consumer and media awareness and interest.

The restyled bus in Muscat Duty Free livery travelled through the streets of Muscat, passing 399 station stops, carrying travellers from across the Governorate of Muscat to and from Muscat International Airport.

The bus became a talking point in Oman due to its distinctive design. Videos spread quickly on WhatsApp and Snapchat applications, with the retailer reaching around 600,000 views in under three days.

In a further move, the internal screens of all buses across the Oman National Transport Company (Mwasalat) fleet in Muscat were used to promote and reinforce the Muscat Duty Free brand identity. On the branded bus itself, a scannable barcode was linked to an exciting social media competition on Instagram, which aimed to convert all viewers into followers.

Muscat Duty Free hailed the “strong and wonderful reaction” among the public that engaged with the campaign across social media channels.
