Munich Airport rolls out personal shopping service for Arabian and Japanese travellers

GERMANY. Munich Airport is to offer a personal shopping assistant service to Arabian and Japanese travellers this summer.

It follows a pilot project with Chinese passengers in Terminal 2 and Arabian travellers in 2017.

The shopping assistants are native speakers and can help in any shop in Terminal 2.

The ‘Arabic Shopping Assistant Service’ will run from 16 July until 2 September 2018. A service will also be available to Japanese passengers for the first time, from 16 July until 7 October 2018, in which they can request the help of a personal shopping assistant.

The assistants are native speakers and will be available daily from 1.00pm to 8.30pm. They are able to help with issues such as sales tax refunds and duties. Shops in Terminal 2 can call in a shopping assistant on request.

Munich Airport said the aim of the project was to help overcome the cultural and language barriers between passengers and sales staff. The free service helps to create a “pleasant and convenient” shopping experience, it said.

The service will be made available for Japanese travellers for the first time.
