Mumbai International captures leading Indian retail accolade

INDIA. Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) has won the Most Admired Retailer of the Year Award for excellence in travel retail infrastructure. The award was presented at the 13th edition of India’s largest retail intelligence event – The India Retail Forum 2016.

Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) Chief Commercial Officer Sanjay Khanna accepted the prize, which recognised the airport’s achievements in business and innovation in the travel retail category. MIAL showcased its striking T2 offer to delegates at The Trinity Forum earlier this month, which the company hosted.

CSIA was hailed for its technology applications, consumer promotions and “robust” employee and supplier relations. The airport houses more than 150 retail brands across 200,000sq ft.

The award jury included representatives from multinational companies like JLL India, Boston Consulting Group and Knight Frank along with leading management institutions.

The theme for this year’s India Retail Forum was ‘Navigating the Fastest Growing Major Market of the World’. It was chaired by Walmart India President & CEO Krish Iyer. The event emphasised the growth of the Indian economy and discussed the growing complexities of successful retailing in a fast-changing consumer landscape.

Khanna was presented with the award by Adidas CEO Anshul Jain, Raymond Director-Business Development Sanjeev Rao and Bombay Dyeing CEO Nagesh Rajanna at a ceremony in The Renaissance Hotel, Mumbai.
