Mumbai Duty Free engages returning shopper base with major Shop & Win campaign

INDIA. Mumbai Duty Free has been celebrating the return of international travel with a series of Shop & Win contests. A big campaign ran between 1 August and 14 October and was open to all passengers travelling to and from Terminal 2 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).

Eight participants received iPhone 13s models as weekly prizes. A grand prize event took place on 7 November, with two winners receiving Ducati Monster motorbikes and one overall winner capturing a BMW X1 20d luxury car.

Lucky draw coupons were given to passengers who spent between INR4,000 (US$49) and INR15,000 (US$183), with the number of coupons doubling if they paid using a Visa card.

The grand prize draw was organised in front of Terminal 2 and attended by airport dignitaries who presented the prizes to the winners.

Mumbai Duty Free Vice President Marketing and Strategic Partnerships Amit Butani said: “As Mumbai Duty Free was coming back to its pre-COVID glory days, the intent was to come up with an innovative campaign that excites, engages, and creates a great brand recall. At the same time, it becomes our asset, where each consumer gets a chance to win exciting prizes every week and every month along with a grand bumper prize.

“There has been something buzzing for three months for our consumers. They were wowed with the opportunity that lay in store for them. The excitement of seeing families filling in coupons, looking forward to something after a long lull, kids spinning the coupon drum gleefully, and the curiosity of onlookers, was extremely infectious and has driven us to create more such events in the future.”

Further big ticket prizes and a chance to win gold will be among the next wave of shopper promotions.
