Mouton Cadet named as Official Wine for the 2018 Ryder Cup

Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Ryder Cup Europe have named Mouton Cadet as Official Wine of the 2018 Ryder Cup in Paris.

The biennial Ryder Cup features 12 of America’s top professional golfers against 12 of their counterparts from Europe in a match-play, team competition. The competition was founded by English businessman and golf enthusiast Samuel Ryder in 1927 and attracts an audience of millions around the world.

Mouton Cadet was the official wine at previous Ryder Cups in 2014 (Gleneagles, Scotland) and in 2016 (Hazeltine, Minnesota). On both occasions Baron Philippe de Rothschild partnered with major duty free and travel retail operators to develop ad-hoc promotions around the theme of wine and golf, and developed a Mouton Cadet Ryder Cup Limited Edition.

For the 2018 Ryder Cup partnership, Baron Philippe de Rothschild will release a Special Cuvée in March 2018 for selective distribution, including duty free and travel retail.

“The pursuit of excellence on the golf course fits perfectly with our values as winemakers”

The Baron’s grandson Philippe Sereys de Rothschild commented: “I am delighted that Mouton Cadet will be served as Official Wine at The 2018 Ryder Cup. The pursuit of excellence on the golf course fits perfectly with our values as winemakers, and the camaraderie, sportsmanship and entertainment during every competition is the perfect setting for our wines.”

The 2018 Ryder Cup, the 42nd in the competition’s history, will be played on the Albatros Course of Le Golf National, Paris from 28 to 30 September 2018.
