More space and more choice: Travel Retail Norway and Gebr Heinemann more than double arrivals retail area at Bergen Airport

NORWAY. Travel Retail Norway and Gebr Heinemann have opened a new Heinemann Duty Free arrival shop and Travel Value store at Avinor Bergen Airport.

The openings bring the total arrival retail space to 1,100sq m. That is over twice the size of the former 400sq m arrival store (which was only used by arriving passengers from non-Schengen countries). The new shops were constructed as part of Terminal 3’s expansion.

The partners said the larger space was necessary as passenger traffic grows. “Bergen Airport will now have a large arrival store with a great variety of products,” said Travel Retail Norway CEO Håkon Fjeld-Hansen. “We have been waiting for this for a long time, and are looking forward to greeting and serving all our customers in the new shop.”

The new Heinemann Duty Free arrival shop provides more space, reduces congestion and features a wider product range. “Our store in Bergen used to be for both arriving and departing passengers,” said Fjeld-Hansen. “By separating them – as we already do in Oslo – we will now be able to tailor the shopping experience to the different needs that our customers have. This has proven to be a success in Norway with Oslo as one of the world’s biggest arrival duty free stores.”

The store features a wider range of cosmetics for women with 76 different brands. It also has a much-improved wine selection, with 75 additional SKUs and a total of 430 wines. Also on offer are 58 types of beer.

The partners also noted that there were more local and ecological products, a designated area for gifting, and more quality Norwegian products.

The 230sq m Travel Value shop offers a range of products from perfume & cosmetics to sunglasses and other fashion & accessories. The store features the newest design from Heinemann Duty Free, focusing on local design and architecture in Bergen.

Travel Retail Norway said it is investing a total of approximately NOK40 million (US$5 million) in duty free and travel value at Bergen in connection with the airport’s expansion. In addition to the two new T3 shops, Travel Retail Norway and Gebr Heinemann operate a duty free departure shop in T2.
