Montegrappa extends its Game of Thrones series with new limited editions

Montegrappa has extended its range of writing instruments based on the Home Box Office (HBO) series, Game of Thrones.

The series, an adaptation of the A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novels by George R.R. Martin, has become one of the most popular shows on television. Montegrappa released its first range, representing the four key Game of Thrones families, Stark, Baratheon, Lannister and Targaryen, earlier this year.

Fit for a king: The Iron of Throne pens extend Montegrappa’s Game of Thrones series

The new limited-edition Iron Throne pens are said to capture the essence of the Westeros seat and feature a cap depicting overlapping swords to represent the seven kingdoms featured in the series. The swords’ hilts join to form a crown, with the pommels and blades running the length of the cap. The pocket clip is fashioned as a sword, with a red ruby hilt.

The Games of Thrones logo is on the top of the cap and dragons and stags – symbols of the houses – are included in the barrel design. Details are highlighted with white celluloid.

The Iron Throne Pen, in sterling silver with vermeil accents, is limited to 300 fountain pens and 300 rollerball pens to denote the year of settlement of the last of the Targaryen Kings (300AC).

Seven fountain and seven rollerball pens, cast in 18 carat gold, represent the number of kingdoms, Montegrappa stated.

The fountain pen is piston fed and its 18 carat gold nib is engraved with an image of a throne.
