Montblanc’s M collection has been awarded with the Red Dot: Best of the Best accolade in Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016.
The Red Dot Award for design concept is the largest and most recognised professional design competition for design concept and prototypes worldwide. Red Dot Design Award is the only international design award that has three large world class design museums to celebrate and showcase its winners. Every year, the winning products of the Red Dot Award for design concepts are exhibited at the Red Dot Design Museum in Singapore.
Created by Marc Newson, Montblanc M is said to express the modernity of today and the timeless elegance of tomorrow. The writing instrument features a magnet that allows the magnetic closing of the cap and barrel, while an additional snap mechanism is said to smooth the closure and ensure the cap remains firmly in place.
According to the company, Montblanc M’s shape stands out with a “plateau” at the end of the writing instrument, created by milling the polished black resin with a diamond tool. The fluidity of the overall design, said Montblanc, is achieved by avoiding breaks in the pure lines of the shape.
Montblanc M also features a ruthenium-plated metal forepart engraved with the brand name and a AU585 gold nib plated in two tones for the first time, using both rhodium and ruthenium.
Montblanc M is available in Fountain Pen, Rollerball, Ballpoint Pen, ScreenWriter for use on touch screens and as a thin Montblanc Artfineliner for technical drawing.
