British fragrance house Molton Brown has unveiled Rose Dunes, the first amber-rose scent in its portfolio. It is now available in global travel retail.
Inspired by the ‘desert rose’ found in the Arabian desert, Rose Dunes is a floral, ambery and woody scent. The 100% vegan fragrance was created by Senior Perfumer Phillip Paparella.
It opens with fresh green pepper and ginger top notes, a floral heart, and a leathery musk base with a patchouli trail.
Describing the scent, Paparella said: “A mysterious desert shimmers with rose and rich spices, enwrapped by a sumptuous, earthy-ambery base.”
The flaçon, which was inspired by desert sunsets, features a hazy pink bottle cap, combined with Molton Brown’s signature brown bottles. The same pink colour palette also features on the packaging.
Molton Brown Senior Global Account Manager Travel Retail Sophie Sponagle commented, “This truly indulgent fragrance is the perfect gift, or self-treat, for luxury-loving shoppers. We are delighted to be adding our first ambery-rose scent to our collection as we continue to create fragrances which hold global appeal, while also allowing customers to express their individuality.
“As travel retail recovers, we are keeping a focus on our existing iconic products, as well as introducing new icons like Rose Dunes to the offer.”
In line with Molton Brown’s sustainability commitments, Rose Dunes was made with sustainably sourced patchouli from Sulawesi, Indonesia. The patchouli’s sustainable cultivation process results in an intense concentration of patchouli, while enhancing the livelihood of the farmers and the quality of the soil.
As part of the soil tilling process, the patchouli roots are dug up and replaced by alternate crops. They are replanted after 15 months to allow the soil to regain nutrition.
