Miles & More extends rewards programme to Hamburg Airport retail and F&B

GERMANY. Lufthansa airline loyalty programme Miles & More has added a new element to its rewards process. Members are now able to earn one award mile per Euro spent at Hamburg Airport in all participating stores, restaurants, cafés and bars.

The initiative, under the slogan ‘Earn Miles until take off’, is effective in more than 20 retail locations at the airport. These include fashion brands such as Marc O’Polo, Wolford and Gant, as well as restaurants such as Gosch Sylt, Starbucks, Sashimi Sushi and Marché.

The recently-opened Marco O’Polo store is among the Hamburg Airport retail outlets where rewards can be earned by Miles & More account holders

In a special launch promotion, from 1 September to 31 October 31 Miles & More accounts will be credited with five award miles for every one euro spent.

Miles & More Senior Director Partner Sales & Ambient Armin Czapla said: “As Europe’s leading loyalty programme for mobile people, our greatest concern is to constantly expand our portfolio along the travel chain and make mileage earning possible for our members with relevant partners and at all important touchpoints.

When shopping in a participating partner store, Miles & More members present their digital Miles & More service card for scanning. The collected award miles are then credited to the mileage account.

“We are now fulfilling this with our new partner Hamburg Airport – the largest and most important airport in northern Germany.”

Hamburg Airport Head of Center Management Lutz Deubel said: “The cooperation with Miles & More has come at just the right time. Demand for business travel is on the way back up and the airlines are adjusting their offerings to suit. According to our latest passenger survey, more than a third of our passengers travel upwards of six times a year.”

Hamburg Airport retail is a significant addition to the Miles & More rewards programme, with around 50 airlines connecting with 115 national and international non-stop destinations at the travel hub

He added: “The fact that frequent flyers from northern Germany can now earn miles when they shop at Hamburg Airport offers real added value for our passengers and provides a new impetus for shopping. This is a genuine win-win situation.”
