Melbourne Orlando International Airport opens its newly upgraded passenger terminal

USA. Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) in Central Florida has unveiled its newly renovated passenger terminal, which features a wide range of food & beverage and retail outlets

The US$72 million Terminal Renovation and Expansion Project features an additional 86,000sq ft of space and includes a welcome centre, modernised screening checkpoints, and an eclectic F&B mix.

The project was designed to accommodate the expected influx of travellers in March from UK holiday company and airline TUI, which will be using the airport as its main US hub for customers travelling to Central Florida from seven UK airports.

In a YouTube video by Florida Today, Melbourne Orlando International Airport Executive Director Greg Donovan said: “All the amenities here are really meant to show the very best of coastal, casual, simple Florida – our beaches, our community, our technological space programmes and all those things.

“So whether it’s the services received here or the design of the facility, it’s meant to be modern. It’s made to increase efficiency and also give that really good first impression to people that are just coming here for the very first time.”

The terminal features stores from multiple retail partners including Core Plus Duty Free. F&B concessionaire The Metz Culinary Management Group offers a diverse line-up, including grab-and-go food counter Butcher Block-Food on the Fly and local tavern The Tap Room/The Tap Room ToGo.

In a LinkedIn post, Core Plus Duty Free said: “Yesterday we had the amazing opportunity to help introduce the new International Terminal here in Melbourne Orlando International Airport with so many of our great partners including TUI airlines who has brought the world to our doorstep and Metz Culinary Management who is bringing world-class dining options to passengers here in Central Florida.”

Core Plus has rolled out its roster of international products exclusive to MLB, including Ventuno Luxury Experience Box. This features a virtual reality viewer which gives the traveller the opportunity to experience the beauty and luxury of Italy without having to be there.

Core Plus Duty Free displays a wide variety of products ranging from popular international brands to local favourites.

Other Core Plus partners include boutique spirits distribution company Blue Caterpillar, Otis Confectionery local favourite Las Olas Brands, eyewear company Barner Brand, travel essentials brand Oneiro, Tip Beauty and Spa Tonics, among others.
