MEADFA Conference 2018 to take place in Beirut

Haitham Al Majali: “We hope to see a strong turnout from our friends and partners in the region”

MIDDLE EAST/AFRICA. The 2018 Middle East & Africa Duty Free Association (MEADFA) Conference will take place in Beirut, Lebanon, on 19-20 November.

As reported, the November 2017 event was originally planned for Beirut, but was rescheduled to January in Dubai due to political uncertainty. At the time, the MEADFA Board expressed its desire to host the event in Lebanon in the future. The Dubai event attracted 489 delegates.

MEADFA President Haitham Al Majali said: “After the success of the MEADFA Conference in Dubai in January, I am delighted that we will be holding our next conference in Beirut.

“While we have faced a number of tough challenges over the past few years, there are plenty of reasons to believe in a bright future for duty free and travel retail in the Middle East and Africa, as was shown by the atmosphere during our event in Dubai.

“As is widely known, the MEADFA Board had hoped to bring last year’s Conference to Beirut, a city that is not only an attractive destination in its own right, but a vital hub for the regional business. We are delighted to bring the event to Lebanon and hope to see a strong turnout from our friends and partners in the region.”

Further updates, including details of the conference and information on how to register, will appear on the TFWA and MEADFA websites soon.
