Sunshine and Moonbow are described as variations on a vintage design and feature MauiGradient SuperThin (ST) Glass lenses. The feminine frames, in light acetate with spring hinges, come in five colours and lens combinations: Tortoise with Navy Blue and HCL Bronze lenses; White Tokyo with Gloss Black and Neutral Grey lenses; Marsala with Tokyo Tortoise and HCL Bronze; Tortoise with Red and HCL Bronze, and Pink with Pink Tokyo and Maui Rose lenses.

According to Maui Jim, lens colour is a functional feature for optimum performance in various light conditions.

Howzit (a term locals in Hawaii use to greet one another) is described as more masculine in shape, colour and size. The style, which echoes Maui Jim’s El Brah, has an acetate frame with metal and rubber temples.

Howzit is available in four colour options: Tokyo Tortoise with HCL Bronze lenses; Tortoise with White and Blue or Gloss Black fitted with Neutral Grey lenses, and Light Charcoal with Maui HT lenses.

Howzit features ST Glass bi-gradient lenses, and is claimed to be 20% lighter and thinner than standard glass lenses.

The first three frames fitted with MauiBrilliant, a feature unveiled at this year’s TFWA Asia Pacific show, will also be highlighted at Cannes. The technology is claimed to create the highest optical grade, impact-resistant, non-glass lens on the market.

Alaka’i, Kumu and Kupuna feature flexible temples made from lightweight beta-titanium, rubber sleeves and adjustable nose pads.

Wide appeal: Maui Jim’s MauiBrilliant lenses feature on new styles

They are available in a choice of colours with co-ordinating lens shades: Gloss black with Maui rose lenses, blue with neutral grey, metallic gloss copper with HCL bronze, and gunmetal with Maui HT.

Maui Jim said the styles would have wide appeal in travel retail as they have been designed to complement most medium-sized, round, oval or oblong face shapes.

All Maui Jim sunglasses feature PolarizedPlus2 lens construction which are said to eliminate 99.9% of glare, manage 95% of the sun’s high energy visible (HEV) radiation, and block harmful ultraviolet (UV) while boosting colour. Maui Jim lenses have been recommended by The Skin Cancer Foundation as an effective UV filter for the eyes and surrounding skin.
