Markus Ettlin leaves senior marketing role at Gebr Heinemann

GERMANY. Markus Ettlin (left) has stepped down from his position as Director Marketing at Gebr Heinemann, a role he has held for the past 18 years. The company said his departure was “mutually planned”. A replacement has yet to be finalised.

“We would like to thank Markus Ettlin for the longstanding, good and trustful cooperation,” said Executive Director Retail and HR Raoul Spanger. “Markus played a significant role in the development of our retail brand which he shaped and continually improved. We explicitly thank him for this and wish him all the best for his future.”

Ettlin started work with the company in 2000, building the Category Management department before being appointed as Marketing Director for Retail in 2007.

He was responsible for establishing and developing the Heinemann Duty Free brand. The company said in a statement: “Heinemann’s expansion was due in no small part to Ettlin’s grasp of global retail and an ability to read the travel retail market and the transformation of consumer behaviour. Furthermore, Ettlin was pivotal in the launch of the Heinemann & Me loyalty programme, now operating in many airport and cruise ships as well as the implementation of the first connected travel retail digital strategy including home delivery.”
