Marchon Eyewear’s Dragon brand – a leader in the performance eyewear space – has sealed a global partnership with Plastic Bank to support efforts to stop ocean pollution.
Through a plastic offset programme, each pair of Dragon sunglasses, optical frames and snow goggles will prevent the equivalent of ten plastic bottles from entering the sea.
According to the partners, the new collaboration will not only help stop ocean plastic pollution but will also improve the lives of collection community members in vulnerable coastal areas and have environmental, social, and economic impact.
Dragon is committed to stopping over 85,600kg of ocean-bound plastic from entering the ocean each year. That is the equivalent of more than 4.2 million single-use plastic bottles.
Marchon Eyewear President Thomas Burkhardt said: “We are very proud to announce our partnership with Plastic Bank, and Dragon is a natural fit.
“By collaborating with Plastic Bank, we are solidifying our commitment to social responsibility and sustainable initiatives, while also tying it back to the brand’s heritage in surf.”
Plastic Bank empowers Ocean Stewards to stop ocean plastic. Its ethical collection communities exchange plastic for life-improving benefits. Exchanges are recorded through a blockchain-secured platform that enables traceable collection, secures income, and verifies reporting. Collected material is processed into Social Plastic feedstock for reuse in products and packaging. |

Plastic Bank Founder David Katz commented: “Around 11 million tonnes of plastic waste is flowing each year into the ocean.
