MALAYSIA. Malaysia Airports this weekend took part in a “celebration of food” at Taste MIGF 2018, a two-day preview of the Malaysia International Gastronomy Festival (MIGF) which runs throughout September.
Three of the best restaurants at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) – Bumbu Desa, Fukuya and Grandmama’s – showcased their most popular dishes under the banner of “Taste of Malaysia Airports”.
The three restaurants were chosen from the top 25 winners from 2017’s annual KULinary event, a “signature dining discovery campaign”. Hosted by Malaysia Airports, KULinary “celebrates gastronomic excellence and dining experiences” at KLIA’s two terminals and allows travellers to sample the international and local eateries available there, said the brand.
“We believe food plays an important role in connecting and educating the cultural richness of the community” – Nazli Aziz.
Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager for Commercial Services Nazli Aziz said: “We are excited to be part of MIGF 2018 as it serves as a platform for us to highlight our commitment to create enjoyable dining experiences for visitors at our airports.
“Ultimately, we want to ensure that our airports become preferred destinations for all food lovers out there.
“This objective is very much in line with our mission of enhancing the total airport experience as we believe food plays an important role in connecting and educating the cultural richness of the community, especially with the variety of exciting F&B outlets that are available at our airports, and in this case, at KLIA.”
Grandmama’s offers traditional Malaysian flavours which it hopes will bring back – as the name suggests – “fond memories of grandmothers cooking in the kitchen”.
Bumbu Desa serves Indonesian cuisine. It showcased its signature dish of Nasi Tumpeng, which is traditionally eaten to celebrate special events.
Fukuya is a Japanese restaurant and created a new dish – Hotate Miso Soup – to celebrate Taste MIGF.
Throughout September, each of the three restaurants will offer a special menu in celebration of MIGF.
