MAC Cosmetics names Saweetie as Global Brand Ambassador

Dubbed as a ‘content queen’, Sawetiee will feature in MAC Cosmetics’ key campaigns and develop signature beauty looks to share on social media

The Estée Lauder Companies-owned makeup brand MAC Cosmetics has named American rapper Saweetie as its new Global Brand Ambassador.

Saweetie, whose real name is Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, is recognised as a leader of the female rap renaissance. She rose to fame after the release of her debut single ‘Icy Girl’ and has released a number of other hit singles including ‘Best Friend’ and ‘My Type’.

As MAC Cosmetics Global Brand Ambassador, she will become the face of MAC’s key campaigns and will work alongside MAC Makeup Artists to develop signature looks. Saweetie will also share her beauty secrets and MAC makeup tricks with her fans on social media.

Commenting on Saweetie’s appointment, MAC Cosmetics Global Creative Director Drew Elliott said: “Saweetie is one of those people that truly does it all – musician, CEO, actress, TV show host, gamer, viral sensation, the list goes on. She is an extreme talent and is relatable. She is all of our best friends.”

“Saweetie’s message of self-confidence and female empowerment is the perfect match for a brand like MAC that has always embraced unapologetic self-expression with open arms,” Elliott added. “She has always loved our products and told me she has swallowed pounds of MAC lip gloss in her life. Saweetie IS a MAC girl, because she is a boss, a winner, an artist, and she knows exactly what she wants…and goes for it. I’m obsessed.”
