Luxembourg Airport passenger traffic hits record high in 2016

LUXEMBOURG. Luxembourg Airport handled 3 million passengers in 2016, a +12.4% increase compared to 2015 and a new annual record.

The introduction of five new airlines at the airport (Hop!, Air France, LOT Polish Airlines, Aegean Airlines, Flybe and Ryanair) was the biggest contributor to growth. Existing airlines also recorded “very fast” growth.

The biggest increase of the year (+22.2%) was posted in the first quarter. Growth slowed during the summer months due to global events but accelerated to double digits from October onwards. December saw a rise of +22.1% compared to the previous year.
