According to the travel retailer, sales of jewellery and watches in the first half of this year to Koreans at Lotte Duty Free increased by +99% compared to the first half of (pandemic-hit) 2021.

As reported, Lotte Duty Free opened its first boutique with Italian luxury jewellery brand Pomellato in January this year at the Myeong-dong store. German watch brand Glashütte is now featured. LVMH-owned luxury jeweller Fred has also relocated its boutique at Lotte World Tower.

Lotte Duty Free Head of Product Division Head Lee Seung-guk said: “We expect that the demand from customers who want to add points to fashion by using jewellery or watches will increase in the future.”

The brand has seen rapid growth since its launch in 2005 by Valerie Messika, with its products now available in 75 countries.

Messika aims to “combine the timelessness of the diamond with a modern touch”. It offers a wide range of necklaces, bracelets, bangles, earrings and rings, including its signature Move Collection, with prices ranging from US$700 to US$12,000.
