SOUTH KOREA. To celebrate its 39th anniversary, Lotte Duty Free gave back to the community through voluntary assistance to the needy in Seoul, Busan and Jeju.
More than 200 employees participated as the retailer donated about KRW30 million (US$24,000) worth of food, materials and funds to the elderly and the homeless.
Staff visited various welfare centres and provided meals for those in need.
Lotte Duty Free CEO Lee Kap said: “We are very sincere about sharing the love we received from our customers with our neighbours, in celebration of our anniversary. We will try to lead the industry in fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities.”
The retailer participates in a range of social contribution projects each year. A ‘Love Heart’ initiative that has been running since 2012 involves Lotte Duty Free supporting the full cost of surgery for 38 children suffering from heart disease in Vietnam and other regions.
