Lotte Duty Free launches ‘Awakening Spring’ campaign

The leading travel retail group lures Korean duty free shoppers with a new seasonal promotional campaign

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free has launched a Spring season marketing campaign, themed ‘Awakening Spring,’ offering shopping vouchers and discounts of up to -80% on selected international brands.

The promotion, targeted at Korean customers, is a response to the increasing demand for duty free shopping by Koreans, said the retailer.

Latest data from the company revealed that its domestic sales for January and February surged by +550% year-on-year, reaching half of pre-pandemic levels. The improvement was brought about by the rising demand for outbound travel.

In this new campaign, shoppers can win up to KRW3.2 million (US$2,500) worth of LDF Pay coupons, which can be used like cash at Lotte Duty Free stores, depending on the purchase amount.

South Korea’s leading travel retailer has also rolled out other marketing activities, including discounts of up to -80% on selected items from popular international brands such as Stuart Weitzman, Bally and Vetrina.

Its Incheon Airport store also offers instant discounts of up to KRW140,000 (US$108) for purchases over a certain amount.

In addition, a prize draw will be held among Korean customers who spend more than US$1,000 at a Lotte Duty Free downtown store or US$250 at the retailer’s online store, offering a voucher for an overnight stay in a Premier Ocean View Double room with breakfast for two at the SIGNIEL Busan hotel. There will be 25 winners to be selected in this draw, which runs until 19 March. To qualify for the draw, customers should complete the website application.

The campaign includes more shopping discounts such as additional points for each time slot and offline-only discount coupons for online and in-store cross-purchase. Details of the promotion are available on the Lotte Duty Free website.

The company has also added more brands to its travel retail portfolio including Ph.Hubby, SCENEARTH, Hamel Beauty and Nonfiction.

An official from Lotte Duty Free said: “We will continue to work harder to provide more shopping benefits and products of various brands to customers.”✈
