Lotte Duty Free begins promotions programme ahead of May Golden Week

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free is planning several promotions ahead of the Golden Week holiday in May.

The retailer kicked off celebrations with a campaign called ‘Youthful Days’ running from 13 April to 31 May. Lotte Duty Free CEO Jang Seon-wook invited 50 domestic tourists to celebrate the occasion with the retailer.

The retailer has also started to sell tickets for its annual Family Festival concert at its downtown Myeongdong, World Tower and COEX shops and Incheon and Gimpo airport stores. Customers can purchase two tickets for US$400. Lotte Card customers can receive additional tickets when they purchase more than US$500.Korean customers who spend over US$1 on their Visa cards at the concert venue will be entered into a draw to win tickets to the first game of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Two people are in with a chance to win KRW3 million (US$2,800) in travel vouchers to Russia.

During ‘Youthful Days’, Lotte Duty Free will hand out prepaid cards of up to KRW300,000 to customers spending over US$300 at its stores in Seoul. This is dependent on the purchase amount and credit card usage. Customers shopping at Incheon International Airport and Gimpo Airport will be able to redeem prepaid cards of up to KRW120,000 (US$112) and KRW160,000 (US$149), respectively.

The retailer will also hold promotions for newlyweds with chances to win a luxury watch or prepaid card of KRW50,000 (US$47) when they spend over US$1,000 instore.

Other cultural events as part of the promotions include tickets to see the Man of La Mancha musical, vouchers to spend at the Guylian Chocolate Café and access to Lotte Duty Free’s luxury VIP lounge, set to open on 27 April, at its flagship Seoul store.

“We [hope] that Lotte Duty Free’s marketing promotion team will help revitalise the domestic tax exemption market through large-scale promotions ahead of the Golden Holiday in May,” stated Lotte Duty Free.
