Loch Lomond offers exclusivity in 2019 travel retail launches

Loch Lomond Group will use the TFWA World Exhibition as a showcase for new expressions with an eye to expand in global travel retail.

The new range includes the Glen Scotia Vintage 1991 and the limited-edition Littlemill Vintage 1992 single malt Scotch whiskies. Both are exclusive to travel shopping and will be available in 2019. The independent distiller will also introduce the High Commissioner 7yo blended Scotch, as well as Ben Lomond, its first small batch gin.

Loch Lomond Whiskies, The Spirit of The Open, will present 2019 limited-edition expressions to celebrate its five-year partnership with golf’s original championship. The company said this year’s editions rolled out into selected global travel locations, with a focus on UK airports.

Glen Scotia Vintage 1991 is distilled at one of only three surviving distilleries in Campbeltown, an area formerly known as the Victorian capital of Scotch, and one of Scotland’s five malt-producing regions. Loch Lomond said the expression offers Glen Scotia’s signature maritime influences along with a hint of spice and smoke. It will be the distillery’s oldest release.

Littlemill Vintage 1992 comes from three casks. Every bottle is numbered and a 5cl vial is included for those who would like to sample the whisky while keeping the bottle intact.

High Commissioner 7yo is a lightly-peated limited edition developed to pay tribute to the expertise and craftsmanship that has gone into distilling High Commissioner for over 160 years. Loch Lomond said the expression has sweet and savoury aromas of barley and pear in vanilla syrup, a flavour of toffee and apple with brown sugar, and a finish of peat smoke.

Ben Lomond is a dry-style London gin that features Scottish berries alongside a selection of botanicals. Its bottle design was inspired by the Ben Lomond mountain, which is located close to Loch Lomond Group’s Alexandria distillery. The bottle also features the wood warbler, a foraging bird native to Loch Lomond and The Trossachs.

Loch Lomond Group Managing Director Global Travel Retail Andre de Almeida said: “We are proud to be extending our global travel retail range and providing travellers with exciting new exclusive and limited-edition products to acquire and enjoy.

“Importantly, we’re also extremely pleased to be offering our travel retail partners a wider choice of Loch Lomond Group brands for their shoppers to discover. Since launching our bespoke GTR Scotch whisky range just over two years ago, we’ve experienced strong demand from retailers for our brands and we’re keen to support their drive for more diversity across the channel.”
