PORTUGAL. ANA Aeroportos de Portugal and Ãreas have held an official opening for the new Portfolio store at Lisbon Airport, hailed as a key part of the operator’s Sense of Place drive.
The official inauguration ceremony for the store, located in the restricted airside area of the airport, was attended by Secretary of State of Public Works, Transport and Communications Sérgio Monteiro and ANA Chairman of the Board of Directors Jorge Ponce de Leão.
The store – which showcases brands, products and experiences representing a selection of the best of Portugal – was the subject of an exclusive preview by The Moodie Report earlier this month, in Issue 57 of our e-Zine.
ANA Retail Director António Luís Rodolfo told The Moodie Report: “Our dream was to create a showcase for Portuguese talent, culture, products and brands, and the opening of Portfolio is our starting point.

“We have to respect our past, our history and our values, and we want to promote Portuguese producers large and small through a professional retail concept. If it’s a success, we will roll it out to our other airports and maybe even outside the airport environment.
“Creating a Sense of Place is one of our main strategic actions as a company. So many airports are the same all over the world so we wanted to create something unique. We do that in three ways. In the common areas of the airport we feature olive trees, Portuguese tiles and other materials, so the environment offers a flavour of the country.
“The second thing is to incentivise our tenants, even the international companies, to introduce some local values into the shop concepts, so we urge them to think global and act local. And the third element is to introduce brands that you can only find here.”
