Lightning strikes twice for nine-year-old winner of Dubai Duty Free’s Millennium Millionaire promotion

UAE. A nine-year-old grade school student has become the latest winner of Dubai Duty Free’s Millennium Millionaire promotion.

Ms. Eliza M. clearly has luck on her side – she previously won a McLaren Coupe in Dubai Duty Free’s Finest Surprise promotion in January 2013.

Her father, Mr. M., is from Mumbai and has been a resident of Dubai for 19 years. He is a regular participant in the Millennium Millionaire promotion, and bought his latest ticket online under his daughter’s name.

The Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw was conducted by (from left to right) Senior Vice President – Marketing Sinead El Sibai, Chief Operating Officer Ramesh Cidambi, Executive Vice President – Corporate Services Salah Tahlak, and Vice President – HR Service Delivery Mona Al Ali.

Commenting on his daughter’s win, Mr. M. said: “I have been buying tickets for the US$1 million promotion since Series 43, and in fact, I have kept that ticket all this time. I never missed buying a ticket for every series including the Double and Multi-Millionaire promotions.”

On his initial plans for spending the money, he said: “I have been making plans since Series 43 but since luck had yet to come I said to myself to continue my life as it is, and then this thing happened. Thank you so much Dubai Duty Free. Finally, my perseverance has paid off.”

The draw took place today (16 April) in Terminal 3, Concourse B of Dubai International. Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, two more winners were announced in Dubai Duty Free’s Finest Surprise promotion, with each winning a luxury motorbike.
