Leeds Bradford Airport unveils first phase of redevelopment project

UK. Leeds Bradford Airport has completed the first phase of a multi-million pound redevelopment project.

The project includes extensive airside redevelopment, additional seating in the departure lounge and new shops, F&B outlets and passenger lounges. Three purpose-built lounges – The Yorkshire Lounge, The White Rose Suite and 1432 Club – feature floor to ceiling runway views.

New F&B outlets include Starbucks, the Cabin Bar offering cocktails, craft beers and appetisers, and the Sports Bar which has replaced The Beer House. The Saltaire restaurant has been refurbished.

New retail offerings include a Leeds United shop which stocks a selection of vintage football shirts.

Improvements have also been made to the front of the terminal building which sports colourful versions of the Welcome to Yorkshire ‘Y’ logo. Welcome to Yorkshire is the official tourism agency for Yorkshire county.

The airport’s Meet & Greet car park facility has been upgraded. The improved service allows passengers to collect their car at the front of the terminal building. The airport opened its first off-site car park, Viking Airport Parking, in March. The car park operates 24/7, with a five-minute shuttle bus service to the terminal.

The airport’s official taxi service, Arrow Cars, has relocated to the terminal forecourt.

Leeds Bradford Airport Chief Executive David Laws said: “We are delighted to offer our passengers even more choice in our departure lounge, as well as improved facilities for business travellers. We hope people will see this as the start of things to come for this airport.

“Our passengers’ journey begins right here at the airport and it’s vital we give them the best possible experience. We have listened to their feedback and as the development continues, we hope to keep improving the customer experience and ensure our passengers feel welcome.”

Laws said the airport encouraged local support. “The more people use the airport the more successful we can be,” he said.

“Work continues to improve our route offering for both business and leisure services while we are now working on our exciting plans for phase two of the terminal infrastructure to improve security and passenger flow. We hope to have more exciting announcements in the very near future,” Laws concluded.
