The Lancaster Sun Sport range, which first launched in 2009, has been upgraded to offer improved sun protection and a “technologically advanced refreshing formula”.

The new range, comprising Cooling Invisible Body Mists in SPF15, 30 and 50; Face Stick Sensitive Areas SPF30; Invisible Face Mist SPF30; and Invisible Face Gel SPF30, will launch in travel retail from March.

The Sun Sport range now contains Lancaster Laboratories Full Light Technology, an innovation which targets the full sunlight spectrum to protect against UVB, UVA, visible light and Infrared rays. From this summer, Lancaster Laboratories will integrate Full Light Technology into all its sunscreen lines: Sun Beauty; Sun Delicate Skin; Sun Control; Sun Sport; Sun Kids.

The Sun Sport range, along with the inclusion of Full Light Technology, is said to offer anti-radical protection and a “protection in motion” innovation, providing greater resistance to water and sweat.

The new formula has been created with active women in mind and promises three levels of freshness. The first can be felt on applying the product: a “burst of freshness” reportedly lowers the surface temperature of the skin by an average of 10°C. Freshness is maintained by intelligent polymers releasing a menthol derivative when activated by heat and this “burst of freshness” is also triggered by sweat to keep skin comfortable during exercise.

Improvements to the formula aim to make applying and wearing the sun protection products as comfortable and easy as possible, said the brand. The invisible, non-oily, non-sticky formulas have an immediate dry touch and a matte finish while at the same time moisturising the skin. Facial products are also said to be compatible with make-up. The Sun Sport range can be applied to wet or dry skin and contains a sand and salt deterrent.

On the subject of Sun Sport’s new technology, Lancaster Laboratories Vice President of R&D Dr Olivier Doucet explained: “We used new types of polymers that change depending on exterior conditions, including temperature, sweat and water. These formulas are truly intelligent since they adapt to any conditions. This makes them particularly useful in products designed for application during outdoor activities.”
