Lagardère Travel Retail wins new five-year fashion contract at Geneva Airport

SWITZERLAND. Airport operator Genève Aéroport (GVA) has awarded Lagardère Travel Retail a five-year fashion concession following a new tender.

The French travel retailer won a five-year duty free concession at Geneva Airport in March last year, adding to its specialist multi-brand fashion operations at the Swiss gateway.

The travel retailer will continue to run the multi-category outlet under the new fashion contract. A Victoria’s Secret store, previously run by Dufry, will be revamped and consolidated into the multi-category store by the end of 2019.

The multi-brand store will expand from 424sq m to 525sq m following the revamp. Phase one of the rebuild on the current space is expected to be complete by April 2019. Phase two will start in October 2019 on the Victoria’s Secret space, with a final expected opening in November next year.

The tender attracted bids from several international travel retailers and some local operators, GVA confirmed to The Moodie Davitt Report.

Lagardère scored the most points in the evaluation process thereby meeting the tender criteria, the airport authority said.

Lagardère ‘s duty free contract at Geneva Airport covers seven duty free stores across arrivals and departures.
