FRANCE. Lagardère Travel Retail has opened a 700sq m Aelia Duty Free store at Marseille Provence Airport.

It marks the end of a major project to refurbish the commercial areas in Terminal 1.

A traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to launch the new Aelia Duty Free store in Marseille.

The Aelia store is based around Lagardère Travel Retail’s ‘Art of the Gift’ concept and combines local and international brands and products.

The local offer is highlighted by Aix & Terra, Chateau Gassier, Roy Rene, Biere La Cagole, Panier Des Sens, Fragonard, L’Occitane and Jott. International brands include Chanel, Dior, Victoria’s Secret, Rituals, Caudalie, Nuxe, Benefit and Superdry.

Lagardère Travel Retail said it was offering a click and collect service in what is a first for the airport.

Lagardère Travel Retail and the airport have also inaugurated several other commercial units in Terminal 1. These include a Relay store in Boarding Area 1, a Relay-FNAC unit landside in Hall B, and a 295sq m Relay-Casino outlet landside in Hall A.

An Air De Provence – La Cure Gourmande store features craft brands from the Provence region.

Airside, a 100sq m Relay- L’Occitane en Provence unit is open to domestic passengers in Hall B.

The Provence region is being showcased in the Aelia Duty Free store, with a range of local brands and products.

“The inauguration of this commercial space prefigures the great changes that will be implemented in the context of [the] ‘Coeur d’Aéroport 2022’ [programme],” said Marseille Provence Airport President of the Board Philippe Bernand.

“Thanks to these new spaces, inspired by ‘walk-throughs’, the airport positions itself as a place to live, and where we can put forth the most beautiful brands, trends and innovations of the moment.”

Lagardère Travel Retail France President Vincent Romet commented: “This longstanding project with Marseille Provence Airport confirms our common vision to reinvent the travel experience. These innovative concepts, developed specifically for Marseille Provence, perfectly illustrate our shared ambition to satisfy and delight travellers, every day.”
