EUROPE. Lagardère Travel Retail Germany/Austria/Slovenia has named Christoph Wenisch as Chief Operating Officer (COO) Foodservice. The move was effective from 1 January.
Salzburg native Wenisch took his first steps in the gastronomic sector in a business run by his family, before working for several years as a chef in New York, Bermuda and in the wider Caribbean. In 2002, he returned to Austria and moved into management.
As regional manager and division leader for the Spar retail chain, he spent 11 years overseeing 70 restaurants located in Interspar supermarkets. Most recently, as Managing Director at a subsidiary of the Rewe Group in Germany, Wenisch was responsible for the development and implementation of new catering concepts.
Wenisch reports directly to regional CEO Thomas Wiesel and completes the management team that includes the Chief Marketing Officer Oliver Hempel, COO Travel Essentials Friederike Martens and Chief Financial Officer Rainer Uhlhorn.
