CHINA. Swiss prestige skincare brand La Prairie is hosting a month-long immersive pop-up in Hainan to celebrate the launch of the Skin Caviar Harmony L’Extrait in China.

The Pursuit of Harmony pop-up takes guests on a journey of exploration to help restore their skin’s balance. It is running at the Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex in Haitang Bay from 1-28 April.

The experience takes guests through several zones. The journey begins in the welcoming area, before leading visitors to The Caviar Lab.

Here, a chemistry-inspired digital installation and interactive science-led zone bring the Skin Caviar Harmony L’Extrait and Skin Caviar collection to life, by teaching shoppers about the collection’s many skin-enhancing benefits.

Guests are then invited to explore La Prairie’s artistic roots through The Bauhaus Exhibition. The exhibition is a physical art showcase that shines the spotlight on The Women Bauhaus Collective, a group of five female multimedia artists tasked with interpreting the theme ‘The Pursuit of Harmony’ through various mediums. The exhibition also offers exclusive digital content, artist interviews and biographies.

The Bauhaus Collective celebrates the original women of the Bauhaus school of art, architecture and designer in Germany between 1919 and 1933 (when it was forced to close by the Nazis). They were pioneers who paved the way for other women who aspired to enter the art and architectural world and who helped the Bauhaus movement reach new heights. However, they are often overlooked in comparison with celebrated male artists such as László Moholy-Nagy, Paul Klee and Josef Albers.

An immersive digital wall with a Bauhaus-inspired backdrop follows the exhibition, offering a photo opportunity for guests to commemorate their visit.

The Skin Caviar Harmony L’Extrait lifts and fortifies the skin using a new Caviar Infinite ingredient

To complete the experience, guests are treated to one-on-one skincare consultations and hand massages by a La Prairie expert using a trio of caviar-infused hero products, including the new Skin Caviar Harmony L’Extrait.

The Skin Caviar Harmony L’Extrait, and The Women Bauhaus Collective, were the subject of a Moodie Davitt Spotlight Series eZine in 2022.

According to the brand, The Pursuit of Harmony pop-up highlights how La Prairie merges the worlds of science and art, two key brand values.

Science is being showcased through The Caviar Lab which builds on 35 years of skin caviar innovation, and its latest breakthrough, the Skin Caviar Harmony L’Extrait.

The new formula has been infused with Caviar Infinite, a potent blend of proprietary caviar ingredients combined with a high-efficacy active that strengthens and densifies the skin.

Caviar Infinite is the result of La Prairie’s collaboration with a Swiss bioanalytical laboratory, which developed new test protocols to study skin ligaments.

Skin architecture comprises both horizontal and vertical elements, with skin ligaments representing the latter. Skin ligaments make up the strong network of the hypodermis and are essential to the stability of the skin. With age, skin ligaments weaken, resulting in wrinkles and face sagging.

The Harmony L’Extrait is designed to lift and firm the skin and fortify skin ligaments. It has been formulated with micro-fluidic technology that melts the serum’s microbeads into the surrounding gel upon application.

Art is expressed through The Bauhaus Exhibition. The Bauhaus movement is a major architecture movement that has been a powerful source of inspiration for La Prairie over the years. It was also the inspiration for the design of the Skin Caviar Harmony L’Extrait’s cobalt blue bottle.

As a tribute to the unsung heroes of Bauhaus, La Prairie created its own ‘Women Bauhaus Collective’. The collective aims to put the female figures of the Bauhaus movement in the spotlight.

The roster includes American textile artist Lauren Januhowski, Italian sculptor and photographer Jasmine Deporta, Hong Kong-based architecture/3d modelling artist Kristin Chan, Chinese American digital artist Gloria Fan Duan and British/Iranian visual artist Talia Golchin.

The Women Bauhaus Collective honours the women of the Bauhaus movement by giving five young female artists their chance to shine

All five women were mentored by acclaimed Dutch artist and designer Sabine Marcelis. ✈
