Kyiv International Airport terminal expansion nears completion

UKRAINE. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport is preparing to open a new section of international terminal A.

The 9,500sq m area will feature duty free stores operated by Gebr Heinemann, bars, restaurants and an entertainment area where passengers will be able to experience virtual reality using special glasses.

The airport said it was in the final stage of construction and was finishing works on the project, which has cost UAH630 million (US$23.7 million). It has released images of the terminal area as it currently looks, ahead of the opening, which can be viewed on this page.

Eighteen check-in desks and nine security screening points will be positioned on the ground floor, with 18 border control desks located on the second floor. The airport said it was aiming to improve the speed and efficiency of the check-in and security process – thereby increasing passenger dwell time.
