Kuala Lumpur International takes travellers on a journey of dining discovery

MALAYSIA. Malaysia Airports has launched a month-long campaign to promote the dining experience at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The airport has collaborated with Friedchillies.com for the campaign. The Malaysian food media company has ‘mystery shopped’ and evaluated the dishes served and overall experience at the airport’s F&B outlets and named its ‘top food discoveries’.

Malaysia Airports said the term ‘discoveries’ was intentionally chosen by Friedchillies to show that there are many hidden gems at the terminals.

The Dining Choice Award was presented to 18 restaurants across both the airport’s terminals

As a result of the survey, 18 restaurants at both terminals have won the Dining Choice Award to “recognise their outstanding performance in food quality and overall dining experience”. These outlets will offer discounts to passengers during the campaign.

Travellers can pick up ‘Food Passport’ brochures which have been made available at all F&B outlets at the airport. These contain an RM5 (US$1.1) voucher which is valid with a minimum spend of RM30 (US$6.8) at all 146 F&B outlets.

Malaysia Airports is also running a ‘Dine & Win’ contest, with travellers eligible for entry if they spend RM30 (US$6.8) or more in a single receipt at any F&B outlet and submit their details through a contest form. Four Go Pro Hero 5 cameras are on offer as prizes.

“As we wish to transform our airports into a preferred destination, we are focused on catering not only to travellers but the surrounding community as well,” said Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager Commercial Services Mohammad Nazli Abdul Aziz.

“We want people to know that the airport is a great destination for foodies out there. This campaign is part of our ‘Total Airport Experience’ initiatives as outlined in our five-year business plan, ‘Runway to Success 2020’.”

Malaysia Airports said it hoped the KULinary campaign would become an annual event and serve as a catalyst for all F&B operators to raise the standard of food quality and service.

The F&B offer at Kuala Lumpur International Airport encompasses both international brands and Malaysian concepts, such as Eden, Secret Recipe, Old Town White Coffee, Noodles, and Grandmama’s.
